Recorded in 1997 at a unique competition for players of the Scottish snare drum, here the world's leading players take the opportunity to showcase their skills and individual styles, accompanied by some of the best pipers in Scotland.

Top class drummers and percussionists wordwide have always appreciated the skill and musicality of these players; Joe Morello was widely known to have held Scottish snare drummers in high esteem, frequently spending time with them when visiting Scotland for his legendary drum clinics, and Art Blakey always placed the late Alex Duthart (a snare drum legend) at the head of his pantheon of the world's top drummers.

The Masters Solo Drumming is a must for lovers of Scottish music, pipe band music in particular, and drummers from any genre will find much to envy and admire in the extraordinary level of technique displayed here.
