P/M Brian Lamond
Piper Brian Lamond started learning his instrument when he was 8 years old. His talent was quickly recognised by many people and by the time he was 12, he was being taught by the late Capt. John MacLellan MBE. MacLellan was his teacher for about 7 years and influenced all aspects of his playing, but Piobreachd in particular. It was about that time he was invited to do his first radio broadcast for the BBC. As a junior piper Brian won all the major contests at least once, including 3 Cowal Gold Medals.Brian has been involved with several well known pipe bands such as the Victoria Police Pipe Band, Scotrail Vale of Atholl Pipe Band and Polkemmet Colliery Pipe Band.
In late November 1999 Brian became PM of Dysart & Dundonald Pipe Band. The first full season under Brian's leadership saw the band qualifying for the Grade One World Championship finals and finishing the season a creditable 6th overall at the Scottish Championships in Arbroath.
As well as being an accomplished piper Brian also plays the guitar and sings to a high standard.
